DESCRIPTION
Set of four Brutalist chairs, 20th century.
Carved and turned oak, with braided leather cord.
They show signs of use and surface wear.
Measurements: 101 x 43 x 50 cm, each.
The set embodies a Brutalist aesthetic in which the construction and joining systems play an expressive role. The high, narrow backs are formed by three vertical boards joined by butterfly-shaped joints, while the braided leather runs along the perimeter and underscores the pieces’ artisanal character.
The turned legs—sturdy and slightly flared at the bottom—reinforce the set’s sculptural presence. The combination of bold forms, visible joints, and ornamentation reduced to the structural elements themselves is characteristic of artisanal-inspired Brutalist furniture.
