The “Blitz” lamp is a fine example of the formal experimentation carried out by Stilnovo during the 1970s. Its design is based on a continuous surface of folded sheet metal, which simultaneously forms the base, the vertical body, and the wide curved shade, reducing the structure to a succession of planes and lines of great visual clarity. The combination of geometry, lightness, and a monochromatic finish places the piece among the most refined trends in Italian design of the era.

Claudio Trabucchi, Gianni Vecchi, and Gianni Volpi jointly developed this lamp, contributing to the formal renewal that characterized Italian lighting design in the 1970s. Stilnovo, founded in Milan in 1946, was one of the most influential firms in postwar Italian lighting design and, throughout its history, brought together designs by creators such as Gae Aulenti, Joe Colombo, Ettore Sottsass, and Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni.
