This chair, designed by Hans Theo Baummann in the postmodern style, features bold shapes and rounded forms. It is a cozy and comfortable design, with a traditional base structure given a modern twist through its color and streamlined forms. It masterfully combines shades of dark blue and blue-green, as well as a pattern of perforations on both the backrest and the rear legs.
Hans Theo Baumann began his training as an apprentice in a textile workshop and later studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Dresden from 1943 to 1946. He then studied graphic design and interior design at the School of Decorative Arts in Basel, and in 1955 he opened his own studio. Around this time, he began his collaboration with Rosenthal, which would continue into the 1970s. He also created designs for ceramic and glass objects for various companies. In 1959, he became a founding member of the Verband Deutscher Industrie Designer (VDID: Association of German Industrial Designers), serving as its president until 1970. Today, his designs are featured in prestigious collections around the world, such as that of the MoMA in New York.
