Watercolor on paper.

This work reveals the artist's ability to transfer to small format the principles that guided his entire production: rhythm, balance, formal synthesis and dialogue between nature and modernity. The curved and enveloping forms generate a sensation of expansive movement, while the clear and luminous palette brings freshness and vitality to the whole. Burle Marx deploys an abstract language of organic forms and vibrant color, closely related to his conception of landscape as a plastic composition.
Roberto Burle Marx was a Brazilian landscape artist, plastic artist and designer, an essential figure in the modernization of landscape architecture in the 20th century. He collaborated with architects such as Oscar Niemeyer and Lúcio Costa, and developed emblematic projects in Brazil and other countries. His work integrates art, botany and architecture, and is represented in institutions such as the MoMA in New York, as well as being preserved in numerous public spaces and international collections.
