BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
French school of the 19th century.
"Bust of noble lady".
Marble.
Measurements: 69 x 50 x 25 cm.
Bust carved in marble round bulk, from the nineteenth century and baroque aesthetics. Thus, we see a female figure with wavy hair and melancholic attitude, with symmetrical features, of clear classical roots but treated from a pictorial point of view. Regarding the technical and formal aspects, the sculptor demonstrates a great mastery of the craft, a virtuosity especially evident in details such as the hair and facial features. In a certain way, the bust may remind us of the one made by Gian Lorenzo Bernini for the monarch Louis XIV of France. With this piece, a new sculptural concept is incorporated into the art world, at the same time that the typology of the bust that had been lost in the previous Renaissance period resurfaces.
