This French pewter jug is an excellent example of handcrafted decoration applied to everyday objects. The design features a domed hinged lid adorned with spiral shell motifs and a scallop-shaped top handle. The main handle is a sturdy scroll that is integrated into the body of the jar, whose intriguing spiral fluted façade is embellished with scrolls and vegetal ornamentation.
