Madola, pseudonym of Maria Àngels Domingo Laplana, is a Catalan ceramist, sculptor, painter and artist, based in Premiá de Dalt (Barcelona). She is known for her pieces of organic forms that combine the elements of traditional roots - with the skill of the trade and the workshop - with the most contemporary and conceptual art. She worked with the ceramist and sculptor Josep Llorens i Artigas. This, along with other ceramists such as Antoni Cumella i Serret, were his references. He has had solo and group exhibitions all over the world. He has permanent works in numerous museums and also large format works in urban spaces. He is a numerary member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona since 2015, of the International Academy of Ceramics (AIC) based in Geneva and of the Work-Craft Council of UNESCO in Paris. He has won prizes and awards such as the Sotheby's London Special Prize for Ceramics or the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation in Mallorca.
