Jorge Castillo is an artist of international renown whose vocation for drawing was manifested since childhood. Trained in Buenos Aires, he began his career combining painting and writing, and began exhibiting at an early age. At the age of 22 he moved to Europe, initially settling in Madrid, where he lived in precarious conditions but achieved recognition thanks to the interest of key figures. During this period he turned to engraving, a technique that would mark his career.
His international projection was consolidated with his participation in the São Paulo Biennial (1960) and, later, in the Venice Biennial (1964), after which he signed a contract in Paris. He lived in France, Switzerland, Italy and Germany, exhibiting in prestigious museums and galleries. He later moved to Barcelona and, in the 1980s, settled in New York, where he was represented by the Marlborough Gallery.
Throughout his career he has been awarded several international prizes and since 2008 he has lived in Ibiza.
