This pot-bellied (rounded) vase has a mouth that simulates the shape of a leaf. Its design is highlighted by a frontal floral decoration and two young women in relief on the sides, elegantly dressed in drapery. It is a remarkable piece of Art Deco style.
Antoine Nelson, a descendant of a family of sculptors, was active from 1880 and developed an international career: he lived in London before settling in Paris between 1890 and 1910. Nelson is especially known for his Art Nouveau female busts, although his work also included the creation of decorative vases, sculptures and monuments.
