This jar is a testimony of how human anatomy and botanical elements converge to elevate an everyday object to the category of collector's sculpture.
Sculptor Jean Garnier, active during Art Nouveau, was recognized for his bronze sculptures and decorative vessels. He won an honorable mention at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1892. Garnier specialized in human figures with remarkable movement and realism, capturing everyday, rural and allegorical subjects. In addition to his figurative work, he produced busts and decorative vases that reflect the aesthetics of his time.
