Josep Salvadó Jassans was a Catalan sculptor and draftsman. He used to sign his works with the second surname Jassans by which he is usually known. His first studies on sculpture were made at the School of Work in the city of Reus, while working as an assistant to the sculptor Modest Gené. In 1959 he entered the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona. During the years 1960 and 1967, he apprenticed in the workshop of Joan Rebull. In 1972 he was awarded the first prize in the I National Small Sculpture Exhibition Competition held in Valladolid. From his first individual exhibition held in 1973 at the Sala Parés in Barcelona, he exhibited numerous times in various national and foreign galleries. Since the installation of his workshop in the Sarriá district of Barcelona in 1969, his work shows as main theme the female figure, with a clear Mediterranean influence and perfection with reality, also shown in his portraits.
