The piece belongs to the production of Porcelana Artística Levantina, a Valencian manufacturer active during the second half of the 20th century and known for its marked inclination towards the costumbrista sculpture of festive character. This is a group in enameled porcelain, with voluminous and detailed modeling, representing a young couple mounted on a lavishly decorated horse, following the ornamental imagery typical of the popular celebrations of the Levantine region.
The scene shows the two characters sitting naturally, almost in a ceremonial attitude. He wears a dark jacket and light shirt, while she, with a serene gesture, wears a shawl decorated with floral motifs and holds a carefully modeled bouquet of flowers. Their faces, with softened features and friendly expressions, respond to the idealized style characteristic of the workshop, which sought a friendly and decorative aesthetic.
The horse, the real formal protagonist of the composition, presents an exuberant ornamentation: mantles, tassels, beads and cords applied in relief, arranged in superimposed layers of color. All this is treated with a glossy vitreous enamel, which intensifies the polychrome and reinforces the sensation of richness and movement. A multicolored ceramic fleuron rises at the head, which further accentuates the festive reading of the whole. The figure rests on an irregular base that simulates an organic ground, modeled with broad strokes and glazed in greens and ochers.
This type of composition is representative of the firm's desire to preserve and reinterpret Valencian popular tradition through its own plastic language, where decorative abundance, chromatic vitality and traditional sensitivity combine to offer pieces of strong visual presence and high ornamental value. The group, as a whole, embodies an idealized and celebratory vision of regional folklore, and constitutes a notable example of the thematic and technical repertoire of the manufacture during the period.
