This sculpture in patinated bronze, made in Spain in the second half of the 20th century, represents a putto or cherubic musician in full dance, holding a tambourine and raising a leg in a dynamic gesture. Its warm finish, of uniform patina and soft modeling, refers directly to the European Baroque and Rococo sculptural tradition, reinterpreted by Spanish workshops of the 20th century.
The rounded anatomy, the idealized naturalism typical of child angels and the presence of golden elements -such as the band that crosses her torso- accentuate the festive and theatrical character of the figure, evoking both Spanish baroque iconography and the more decorative wake of nineteenth-century academicism.
