This Gothic candlestick is a piece of clear liturgical or domestic functionality, representative of the late medieval European forge.
Executed in wrought iron, it adopts an arched shape that allows the simultaneous arrangement of several lights, a common solution in candelabra intended to illuminate altars, choirs or ceremonial spaces. Cylindrical nozzles for candles are arranged along the arch, fixed by rivets and visible welds, while the upper profile is enlivened with a rhythmic jagged cutout, typical of the Gothic decorative language applied to metal.
Overall, the candelabra combines structural sobriety and a discreet ornamental sense, reflecting the mastery of Gothic ironworkers and their ability to integrate form, function and durability in objects intended for everyday and ceremonial use.
