Ernesto Knorr is a relevant figure within contemporary abstract sculpture, whose production has developed uninterruptedly for more than four decades. His work dialogues with the Basque sculptural tradition, especially with the spatial proposals of Jorge Oteiza and the material investigations of Eduardo Chillida, references that translate into a personal exploration of balance, mass and emptiness. Knorr's work is articulated from the interaction between planes and volumes, the suspension of forms and the expressiveness of steel, giving rise to pieces that, from monumentality to small format, seek to activate a sensitive and silent perception in the viewer.
His production is represented in both private and institutional collections, with presence in various museums in Aracena, Huelva, Salamanca and Alcalá de Henares, as well as in official collections such as that of the Royal House. At the same time, his intervention in public spaces has contributed to the configuration of urban environments through emblematic sculptures such as Portón in Avilés, Árbol in Infiesto and Tolerancia in Corvera de Asturias, consolidating his contribution to the contemporary sculptural landscape.
