BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Modeled after PIET MONDRIAN; 1930s-40s.
Untitled.
Polychrome wood.

The work is clearly part of Neoplasticism, a trend developed by Piet Mondrian and the De Stijl group, characterized by formal and chromatic reduction. Pure geometric shapes, rectangles, vertical and horizontal planes, and a curved element are used, organized according to a rigorous compositional balance.
The exclusive use of red and black refers to Mondrian's essential palette, where color is not decorative but structural: each chromatic plane defines tensions, rhythms and spatial hierarchies. The alternation between solid masses and voids generates a sense of dynamic order, a fundamental principle of neoplastic thought.
Although Mondrian worked primarily in painting, this work transfers his postulates to three-dimensional language, exploring the relationship between plane and volume, stability and movement. The inclusion of the curved form introduces a subtle contrast to the dominant orthogonality, bringing complexity without breaking the overall harmony.
Overall, the piece expresses the modern search for a universal language, based on abstraction, rationality and balance between opposites, central values of European avant-garde art in the 1930s and 1940s.
