BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

JORDI ALCARAZ I TARRADAS (Calella, Barcelona, 1963).
"Set taques d'escultura".
Seven "pigment sculptures" on paper, copy PA 1/2.
Signed and justified.
Measurements: 50 x 70 cm (paper); 60 x 82 cm (frame).

Conceptual work composed of seven small sculptural forms made with pigment and manipulated paper, arranged on the surface of the paper. Each element generates a slight relief that transforms the work into a hybrid between drawing, painting and sculpture.

The palette contained in blue and white tones emphasizes the materiality and spatial presence of the elements, a characteristic feature of the work of Jordi Alcaraz, an artist known for exploring the limits between surface, matter and volume, frequently intervening paper, glass or other supports to create poetic and three-dimensional effects.

Jordi Alcaraz has developed a recognized international career, with exhibitions in Spain, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Canada and Switzerland, and participation in important contemporary art fairs such as ARCO, Art Basel, Art Frankfurt, Art Cologne, Art Chicago, Art Miami or Arte Lisboa.

He has participated in outstanding group exhibitions, such as De blancos, vacíos y silencios (Fundación Telefónica, 2001), and in 2009 the Nieves Fernández gallery in Madrid included him in the exhibition Cherchez la femme, together with artists such as Chillida or Equipo Crónica. He has also produced several bibliophile editions, including Papers secants (1986), with poetry by Perejaume, and Trasllat, with texts by Joan Brossa and Alfons Borrell. His work is represented by the Centre Cultural Contemporani Pelaires in Palma de Mallorca and is part of numerous international private collections.
