Important baroque sculpture from Granada of the XVII century that stands out for the quality of its modeling, its monumental presence and its clear link with the refined formal language developed in the environment of Alonso Cano.

Made in rounded bulk and conceived for free-standing contemplation, the figure presents a balanced and elegant composition. The weight falls on the right leg while the left leg comes forward in a soft contrapposto that dynamizes the silhouette and generates an ascending line culminated by the right arm raised in a gesture of blessing. This articulation of movement brings naturalness and rhythm to the work, distancing it from rigid approaches and endowing it with authentic sculptural presence.

The anatomical modeling responds to an idealized naturalism characteristic of the full baroque of Granada. The torso shows smooth muscular transitions, rounded belly and solid but harmonious extremities, treated with volumetric sensitivity. The carving does not seek dramatism, but ideal beauty and religious unction, distinctive features of the Granadine focus compared to other more expressive peninsular schools.

The face is one of the aspects of greatest quality: broad forehead, almond-shaped eyes with a low gaze, straight nose and small mouth with a serene expression. The treatment of the hair, arranged in short, carefully defined curly locks, is directly linked to solutions present in the Canaesque style. This classical serenity, combined with the purity of lines and emotional restraint, places the work within the circle of Alonso Cano, whose synthesis between classicism and spirituality defined the sculpture of Granada in the seventeenth century.
