Carmelo Vicent Suria was an outstanding Valencian sculptor and image maker. From a young age he trained at the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos and later in Madrid with José Capuz, perfecting his technique. His work combined religious imagery and profane sculpture, characterized by a realistic and sober style, with classicist influences.
Throughout his career, he received numerous awards at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, and became a professor at San Carlos, as well as an academician of several artistic institutions. His works include reliefs and allegorical figures for public buildings, religious carvings and Fallas monuments. He also wrote sainetes in Valencian, showing his artistic sensitivity beyond sculpture.
He died in Valencia in 1957, leaving a legacy that can still be admired in museums, churches and public spaces in the region, establishing himself as a key figure in 20th century Valencian sculpture.
