"Female nude". 1976
Stone.

Eulàlia Fàbregas de Sentmenat developed a genuinely Mediterranean sculpture, a quality that is clearly manifested in this figure: a nude of essential lines, of refined and almost idealized forms, that nevertheless conserves a marked naturalistic sense thanks to the recollected attitude.
Seated with her legs folded and her body leaning forward, she rests her head on one of her arms in a gesture of intimate introspection. The young woman thus acquires a serene and timeless presence, evocative of a certain classical statuary, but also profoundly human. The modeling, soft and restrained, gives the anatomy a delicate carnality, balancing dignity and grace in a composition of great formal harmony.
Eulàlia Fàbregas de Sentmenat was a late starter in sculpture, after the death of her son in a traffic accident. In 1964 she held her first exhibition at the Sala Parés in Barcelona. His work focuses mainly on the female nude, with large-format figures characterized by massive, elegant and serene volumes, although he also made religious sculpture.
Many of his sculptures can be found in public spaces in Barcelona, among them Mediterrània (Palacio Real de Pedralbes), Serenidad (Parque de Cervantes) or Mujeres en la Cascada (Jardines de Joan Maragall). He also made numerous works in Esplugues de Llobregat, especially in Can Sentmenat and Can Vidalet Park, with pieces such as Maternidad, Diana or Alba, among others.
