The work of Carlos Tárdez is situated in a hybrid territory between sculpture and painting, where the pictorial gesture acquires volume and physical presence. In this piece, the artist builds a bust of fragile and deeply expressive appearance, worked through accumulations of matter that evidence the creative process.
Carlos Tárdez is a contemporary Spanish artist with a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid. His work explores themes such as identity, the human figure and the reinterpretation of the everyday, often through irony and double meaning.
He has been recognized with several awards, including several Medals of Honor of the BMW Painting Prize (2010, 2018 and 2021), consolidating himself as one of the leading voices of his generation.
