BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

SALVADOR MOLLÁ SORIANO (Spain, 1960).
"Illuminated figure", 2025.
Ceramic and glass. Unique piece.
Signed with anagram in the area of the right shoulder.
Measurements: 97 x 37 x 45 cm.
Ceramic sculpture that presents a synthesized body, of rounded volumes and intense chromatism, crowned by a crystalline form that suggests illumination, transcendence or connection with a superior dimension. From an iconographic perspective, the woman is not represented as a concrete individual, but as an archetype: a receptacle of energy and collective memory. The frontality and the arrangement of the arms refer to primitive statuary and votive idols, reinforcing its reading as a totem. In this sense, the piece activates resonances with ancestral practices in which the feminine embodies fertility, protection and spiritual mediation. The rough surfaces and vibrant glazes underline the tension between the earthly and the luminous.

In Salvador's work, materials are often the protagonists and motors of the creative process. Salvador Moya has an extensive artistic career that is expressed in various disciplines: drawing, painting, sculpture with different materials and treatments, although he mainly works with ceramics, a material with which he has had a great professional projection, applied in architecture and decoration. It is also common in his work the use of iron, steel, glass, wood, etc. in any of his creations, providing an interesting contrast to his work, and distinguished by the recovery of materials or the conversion of furniture.
