DESCRIPTION

PEDRO SANDOVAL ORTA (Venezuela, 1966).
"Neo-Kinetic Series (Cubición II)", 2016-2017.
Laser print on plexiglass, P.A. copy.

Measurements: 105 x 35 x 11 cm.

Geometry, color and perception converge in this work belonging to Pedro Sandoval's emblematic neo-kinetic series, where the artist explores optical vibration and the interaction between planes through the superimposition of linear forms and rhythms. The modular structure, based on the repetition of concentric squares and intense chromatic ranges, generates a sensation of depth and movement that transcends two-dimensionality, in dialogue with the kinetic and op art tradition.

Made by laser printing on plexiglass, the piece incorporates the use of industrial materials to enhance the visual and lighting effects, reinforcing the idea of perceptual instability so characteristic of this series. The work synthesizes Sandoval's own language, in which geometric rigor and chromatic energy converge, consolidating his contemporary contribution to optical abstraction.

This work is representative of one of the most recognizable lines of his recent production, highly demanded in the international market and with growing interest on the part of collectors.

Pedro Sandoval is a Spanish-Venezuelan artist linked to abstract neo-expressionism and creator of the so-called penta-abstractionism. Trained at the Cristobal Rojas School, he developed an international career since the eighties, coming into contact with figures of German neo-expressionism such as Baselitz, Polke or Kiefer.

His work is part of important collections and museums, including the Guggenheim in New York, contemporary art museums in Caracas and the United States, as well as institutional and private collections such as the Vatican, the White House or the Thyssen-Bornemisza family. He has been recognized with awards such as the Lorenzo il Magnifico Gold Medal at the Florence Biennale and the Gold Medal for Excellence in Madrid.
