AMADEO GABINO (Valencia, 1922 - Madrid, 2004).
Untitled.
Oxidized steel and polished aluminum.

Measurements: 70 x 70 cm.
The work, made by means of the sculptural collage technique, shows a careful superposition of metallic plates where oxidized steel and polished aluminum coexist. This combination of materials generates an intense contrast between rough and polished surfaces, between the trace of time and industrial precision, essential elements in the artist's plastic vocabulary. Fully framed within constructivism, the piece is articulated through geometric shapes and refined structures that recall authentic spatial "armatures". The composition stands out for its formal balance, the tension between full and empty spaces and the prominence of the structural line, characteristic aspects of Gabino's sculptural research.
Gabino, a renowned sculptor and graphic artist of constructivist language, developed a solid international career after beginning his training in Valencia and later expanding it in Rome, Milan, Paris, Hamburg and New York. His relevance within contemporary Spanish sculpture was consolidated with his participation representing Spain in the Venice Biennials of 1956 and 1966, as well as in important international meetings such as the Alexandria Biennial of 1954, the Salzburg Biennial of Christian Art of 1956 and the New York World's Fair of 1964. His work, often associated with that of great renovators of Spanish sculpture such as Eduardo Chillida, is distinguished by a constant exploration of industrial materials such as iron, aluminum or brass, transformed into constructions of marked poetic and architectural force.
