An everyday and universal gesture such as crumpling a piece of paper -usually associated with the discarding of an idea, a text or a drawing- can become the starting point of a new creation. Katharina Grosse is known for her large-format paintings, in which she applies pure colors with aerosol directly on objects, architectural structures or landscapes. For M.M.S.#1, the artist created a unique miniature sculpture for each box. The pieces were created from sheets of high-quality paper that Grosse crumpled, fixed to the wall and then intervened with spray paint, resulting in works that are unrepeatable in both form and color.
