As a heir to the Noucentista movement and faithful to the figurative style in all his artistic expressions, Seguranyes’ sculptures depict female figures—elegant nudes—that delve deeply into, humanize, and highlight the full splendor of physical beauty without ever forgetting the soul. The woman is captured naturally, with an intimate touch, always serene.
Joan Segurañes trained under his father, Jaime Segurañes, in the field of sculpture and attended classes at the Municipal School of Drawing and Sculpture in Vic and the School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona. In Barcelona, he worked alongside Camps Arnau and, on occasion, with José Clarà. His work is characterized by his female nudes, in the tradition of Catalan Noucentisme. Technically, with the exception of a stone sculpture of Saint Peter, he has worked primarily with clay and bronze. He has participated in competitions and group exhibitions since 1960: Sabadell, Reus, Barcelona, Alicante, San Lorenzo del Escorial, Sitges, Tarragona, etc. Seguranyes’ works can now be found in various locations, including Vilafranca del Penedès, Centelles, Prats de Lluçanès, Montseny, Vic (Cathedral), and Barcelona (Sagrada Familia). His work is represented at the MEAM in Barcelona.
