DESCRIPTION
FERNANDO BERNAD CASSORRAN (Lécera, Zaragoza, 1913 – Barcelona, 2005).
"Female Figure."
Black marble.
Signed.
Measurements: 71 x 23 x 15 cm.
The sculptor Fernando Bernad lived in Barcelona from his youth onward, and it was in that city that he would pursue his career. He trained at the School of Arts and Crafts, while also working in the studios of several prominent Barcelona sculptors of the time, such as Enrique Casanovas, Manolo Hugué, and Juan Rebull. He exhibited repeatedly at the International Painting Fund in Barcelona and took part in numerous group exhibitions in both Spain and France. He focused primarily on religious sculpture and collaborated with Rebull on the reliefs for the façade of the Monastery of Montserrat. He also devoted a significant portion of his work to the female nude, creating pieces of great beauty that strike a balance between classical and modern styles.
