Ornamental pavilion made of cast iron, conceived as a miniature architectural structure with a centralized floor plan. The symmetrical organization of the structure, the circular floor plan, the use of columns, and the monumental nature of the base reflect the Neoclassical style that developed in Europe beginning in the second half of the 18th century. This movement revived the formal principles of Greco-Roman architecture, spurred by the direct study of ancient monuments and the archaeological discoveries at Pompeii and Herculaneum.

The piece does not appear to be an archaeologically accurate reproduction of a specific monument, but rather offers a free interpretation of the circular shrines of antiquity. Its design evokes classical tholoi and the garden pavilions popularized by Neoclassical architecture, combining various ancient elements within a scenographic composition.

Given its chronology, format, and architectural theme, it can be linked to the production of objects associated with the Grand Tour. During these educational journeys, European travelers acquired antiquities and reproductions of monuments as mementos of their time in Italy, contributing to the spread of the neoclassical aesthetic. Among these works are documented architectural models of ancient temples created during the early decades of the 19th century.

The cast iron lends the piece a solid presence, more substantial than is typical of small cabinet souvenirs. The preserved patina visually unifies the surface, highlighting the moldings, the colonnade, and the architectural elements.
