Standing nearly 1.70 meters tall, these round-bodied candelabra were designed to flank grand entrances, staircases, or reception halls, combining the practical function of lighting with an imposing visual presence. An imposing, flared base adorned with rocaille motifs, acanthus leaves, friezes, lion masks, and powerful clawed feet.
In the central section, the figure of a winged cherub or putto in the round, draped in a cloth of purity, firmly holds with both hands the vase or brazier from which the lights emanate.
The upper section culminates in an elaborate candelabrum with sinuous arms arranged on two levels.
