Beginning in the 1980s, Perejaume began incorporating everyday objects such as stairs, windows, rugs, frames, furniture, doors, and maps into his work, transforming them into powerful visual metaphors that question the relationship between the landscape, its representation, and the exhibition space itself. Far from conceiving them as mere sculptures, the artist transforms these familiar elements into poetic interventions rich in meaning, where the everyday takes on a new conceptual dimension. His artistic language, which draws on conceptual art, Land Art, and the Romantic tradition of landscape painting, invites reflection on nature, memory, territorial identity, and the very experience of seeing.
Perejaume is one of the most distinctive artists and writers on the contemporary Spanish scene. Initially trained at the Llotja School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona, he began his career in the late 1970s working primarily in painting, though he soon expanded his practice to include sculpture, installation, drawing, artist’s books, photography, and writing. His work is characterized by a profound reflection on landscape, representation, memory, and the relationship between nature, culture, and art history. Through a poetic and conceptual language, he transforms everyday objects into visual metaphors and questions the boundaries between the real landscape and its image, establishing a constant dialogue with the Catalan and European landscape traditions. At the same time, she has developed a distinguished literary career with essays and poetry collections that complement her artistic research. Her work has been the subject of major exhibitions at institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the MACBA in Barcelona, the Fundació Joan Miró, the CGAC in Santiago de Compostela, the Botín Foundation, and the IVAM, among many others, establishing himself as one of the most original and influential voices in Spanish art in recent decades.
