This work represents a unique foray by Luis Feito into the realm of design and the object, translating the refined and essential language of one of the great representatives of Spanish Informalism into three dimensions. Created in collaboration with Citroën, the piece reveals the artist’s desire to explore new artistic possibilities beyond the canvas and to experiment with form, volume, and materials. The sphere, presented in an original methacrylate container, thus takes on a sculptural and object-based dimension that connects Feito’s abstract exploration with Citroën’s innovative spirit. The collaboration takes on special significance in the context of the second half of the 20th century, a period in which the boundaries between art, design, and industry began to blur. Feito participates in this dialogue by transforming a mass-produced object into a work of art with a distinctly experimental character. An unusual work within his body of work, it allows viewers to discover Feito from a different perspective and appreciate how his abstract language could transcend the traditional realm of painting
Luis Feito was one of the leading figures of Spanish abstraction and a founding member of the El Paso group. After training in Madrid, he settled in Paris in 1956, where he came into contact with the international avant-garde and developed an abstract style characterized by the intensity of color—especially red—and the simplification of forms. Throughout his career, he exhibited in major cities across Europe, the Americas, and Asia; received numerous awards; and his work is included in the collections of prominent international museums, such as MoMA in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, and the Guggenheim.
