The sculptor depicts a young man sitting cross-legged while playing the flute, focusing on the naturalness of the gesture and the character’s contemplative demeanor. The figurative modeling combines an expressive rendering of the face, hands, and clothing with a varied patina that accentuates the volumes and lends chromatic richness to the bronze. The simplicity of the subject and the intimate nature of the scene are consistent with the figurative language that characterizes much of Ferrándiz’s work.

Rosa González Ferrándiz trained at the Escola Massana and the Escola d’Arts i Oficis Llotja in Barcelona, studying under Rosa Martínez Brau, Josep Jassans, and Mariano Vilalta, among others, and opened her own studio in Barcelona in 1972, where she combined artistic creation with teaching. ICRE Her public works include the sculpture group dedicated to the shoemakers of Inca and *Mediterrània*, installed in Sentmenat; in 2013, she was also one of the artists featured in the exhibition “Un segle d’escultura catalana” at the MEAM.
