True to his realistic and expressive style, Broquet portrays the harshness of physical labor. The figure displays marked physical tension, with rough, impressionistic textures that capture the strength and effort of the laborer or peasant.
A French sculptor trained in Paris, he was a student of Gabriel-Jules Thomas and Jean-Antoine Injalbert. He regularly participated in the Salon des Artistes Français, where he received various awards. His experience during World War I profoundly shaped his career and was particularly reflected in his sculptures and monuments dedicated to the figure of the soldier and the memory of the conflict. His body of work also included portraits, busts, and genre figures, primarily in bronze. He also collaborated with the Henriot manufactory in Quimper, extending his sculptural language into the realm of the decorative arts. His work is characterized by solid modeling and a marked emphasis on the expressiveness of the human figure.
