DESCRIPTION
FRANCESC ANGLÈS (Terrassa, Barcelona, 1938).
Untitled.
Plaster relief on wood. One-of-a-kind work.
Signed in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 20 x 18 x 4 cm.
The work is a representative example of Francesc Anglès’s most recognizable sculptural style, centered on the human figure and the use of plaster. Beginning in the early 1970s, he developed a technique closely linked to his training as an orthopedic surgeon, using plaster bandages and plaster to model figures with a marked tactile presence. In this small relief, the concealment of the face draws attention to the modeling of the hair, the shoulders, and the folds of the clothing, rendered through an irregular and expressive material.
Francesc Anglès is a Catalan sculptor whose work has been distinguished by an intimate and humanistic perspective on the human figure. While studying medicine, he also trained at the School of Arts and Crafts, beginning his career as a sculptor around 1970. He is the creator of major public art installations, including the Monument to the Castellers of Tarragona and *La Cobla*, originally conceived for the grounds of the Dalí Museum. His work is also represented in public collections such as that of the Girona Art Museum.
