Photographer Jan Koster has been immortalizing Dutch landscapes since the early 1990s. Before turning to the Dutch coast in the "Dutchscapes" series, Koster created his "Riverscapes" series. The one we now bid on is one of his favorite landscapes: the IJssel river delta near Kampen. In this series he began to use the technique of photographic collage. For this he glued the photos together to form a landscape, with slight differences in color and composition between the different shots.

Jan Koster lives and works in Amsterdam. He studied at the University of Amsterdam and trained to be a photographic designer at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. He also created a series Havana, a city that sparked his interest, as he married a Cuban immigrant. He observed his series of Riverscapes, Dutchscapes, Havana and later Neighbors; one summer in Amsterdam they were published as books.
