Francesc Català Roca is considered by many critics as the most important Catalan photographer of the 20th century. Son of the also photographer Pere Català Pic, he started in this art by the hand of his father. During his career he collaborated with various publications, such as "Destino" or "La Vanguardia", and illustrated numerous books with artistic photographs. He held his first solo exhibition in 1953, and his awards include the City of Barcelona (twice), the National Prize for Plastic Arts and the Medal for Artistic Merit.
