Member of the Royal Photographic Society. Born in Buenos Aires in 1979, Mena Sambiasi has lived in Madrid since 2001. She studied Film and TV Production and currently directs the audiovisual department of a renowned communication studio in Madrid. She expresses herself through photography as an almost therapeutic activity, which allows her to explore her identity and emotions without the need for words. She finds in the city her main creative scenario, capturing details of the urban fabric to reflect her inner world. She defines herself as an "atypical" street photographer, as she uses an unconventional zoom lens (50-140 mm). Her work is articulated along two lines: on the one hand, "reflections", ambiguous and multi-layered images that play with the border between reality and illusion; on the other hand, more direct photographs focused on loneliness, which transform apparent sadness into hope and beauty. Her work is exhibited in physical and online galleries, and she has participated in solo exhibitions, group shows and fairs in Madrid and Buenos Aires. Since 2022 she has curated the photographic collective Dreamin' Streets, which has over 86,000 followers.
