Member of the Royal Photographic Society. Diego Orlando (San Sebastian, Spain), is an artistic photographer whose career, begun in 2018, has established him as an international figure of 21st century technopictorialism. His work, which seeks "light in a world of shadows," fuses the dramatic sensibility of the Baroque and the Spanish and Italian Golden Age with the contemporary possibilities of digital photography. Characterized by his mastery of chiaroscuro, soft focus and a distinctive mannerism, Orlando constructs profound visual narratives, full of allegory and texture. His work has been widely recognized worldwide, including multiple awards at the International Photography Awards (IPA) since 2018 ("Goya's Gaze," "Malleus Maleficarum," "Half Lights, Half Shadows," "Love Sonnet," "Harmony in the Countryside," "Stop the War," "New Baroque"), as well as nominations at the Fine Art Photography Awards (FAPA) and mentions at the Tokyo International Photography Awards (TIFA). In 2024, he won Second Prize in the Photography category of the prestigious Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize, and in 2025, an Honorable Mention in the "Romper con Ferrater" competition at the Museo del Traje in Madrid. His work "Mother Earth" and "Blue Night" was featured in VOGUE Italy's PhotoVogue, and has been "Editors' Pick" in Iconic Artist. Orlando has exhibited at renowned international institutions and galleries, including the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA), the London Art Biennale, ImageNation Paris, 2BIENALBLACK in Brazil, and Eden Modern Gallery in San Francisco (curated by Beautiful Bizarre Magazine). Reviews in publications such as Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, Metaphor[e] Magazine, Dodho Magazine and El Diario Vasco attest to the resonance and impact of her unique gaze, which defies convention and explores human vulnerability, ritual and strength. With a global presence spanning Australia, the United States, South America and Europe, Diego Orlando is an artist with a mature vision and a promising future in the art market.
