Arata Isozaki is considered a central figure in Japanese and international architecture. He developed different styles throughout his career, including brutalism, metabolism and postmodernism. He studied at the University of Tokyo and worked with the influential architect Kenz? Tange until 1963, when he founded his own studio. He received the 2019 Pritzker Architecture Prize, the most prestigious award in the field. He designed buildings all over the world, with a significant presence in Spain, including the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona or the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. He was honored with numerous international awards, including the 2019 Pritzker Prize, as well as the Japan Association of Architects, the Royal Institute of British Architects and the American Academy, among many others. He was a visiting professor at Harvard, Yale and Columbia.
