DESCRIPTION
EMILIO LEKUONA (Barcelona, 1968)
Silent Vacuum XIX, 2012
Photography on cotton paper.
Provenance: Alejandro Sales Gallery.
Measurements: 31 x 25 cm.
The "Silent Vacuum" series explores the notion of emptiness, memory and absence through stripped scenarios and seemingly anonymous objects. In Silent Vacuum XIX, the chair -marked by slight signs of use- becomes a symbol of absent presence, waiting and human trace. The choice of cotton paper enhances the material-tactile quality of the image, giving it a physical density that dialogues with the concept of silent vacuum that articulates the entire series.
Lekuona has participated frequently in solo and group exhibitions since the 1990s, especially in galleries and contemporary art fairs in Spain and abroad, including Galería Alejandro Sales (Barcelona) and ARCO Madrid. His work is also part of institutional collections such as the Fundació Vila Casas.
