In this multiple, Jaume Plensa articulates a characteristic conceptual language based on the combination of image, word and object. The work is constructed by superimposing elements that invite an open and reflective reading.
The contrast between the clinical space represented in the image and the words "Dead?" and "Fat" introduces a semantic tension that refers to recurring issues in his work, such as the fragility of the body and the human condition.
Jaume Plensa has developed an extensive international career, with outstanding exhibitions such as the retrospective held at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in 2000.
He has received important awards, including the National Plastic Arts Award from the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Medal of Knight of Arts and Letters from the French Ministry of Culture. His work is part of important international collections and museums such as the MoMA in New York, the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid and the MACBA in Barcelona.
