In the series "Reevaluating Light," José Luis Hernández Rodríguez explores the expressive possibilities of infrared photography, transforming our usual perception of landscape and luminous matter. The image ceases to function as a mere record of the visible and becomes a vibrant surface, where color, reflection, and distortion generate a composition of intense abstract power.

Through a close-up and fragmentary gaze, the artist transforms the play of light on the water into dynamic, almost painterly structures, in which undulating lines, chromatic hallmarks, and liquid textures construct a space in constant motion. The print on methacrylate reinforces this sense of depth and brilliance, accentuating the immersive nature of the work.

José Luis Hernández Rodríguez was recently awarded First Prize in the third edition of the “Cómo lo ves” photography contest, organized by the Fernández Vega Ophthalmological Institute in Oviedo.

He is a member of the Royal Photographic Society. José Luis Hernández Rodríguez studied photography at the PICA International School in Alcobendas and the Keltia School in Madrid, and has supplemented his training with specialized courses in portraiture and lighting under renowned photographers such as Estela de Castro and José María Mellado. In addition, he has honed his editing skills through Photoshop training at La Máquina School. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including first prize in the El Escorial Photography Contest and the Collado Villalba National Black-and-White Photography Contest, as well as several awards and distinctions in national competitions such as PhotoEspaña, Mutua Madrileña, and the University of Barbastro. In 2024, she won first prize in the Collective Entrepreneurship Contest at the University of Alcalá de Henares and was a finalist in the “Your Vision of Science” contest.
