BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

MANO MARTÍNEZ (Spain, 21st century).
“Enric,” 2015.
Photograph on 250 g/m² Epson UltraSmooth Fine Art Paper (cotton-based). Inkjet print.
Print 1/10.

Edition of 10 copies and one artist’s proof.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist in April 2015.
Measurements: 52.49 × 37.5 cm.

The first copy of a limited edition of ten, “Enric” is part of Mano Martínez’s exploration of the male portrait and the contemporary representation of the body. In his work, the artist combines fine art photography with elements drawn from fashion and advertising.

The figure, kneeling and partially clothed, occupies the window display of a store alongside a cactus, some bottles, and a basket of oranges. This staging brings together the body, objects, and still life, while the downward gaze and the tilt of the torso introduce an introspective dimension.

The light silhouettes the anatomy against the darkness of the interior and focuses attention on the skin. The greens of the cactus and the orange hues of the fruit provide the main chromatic contrasts. The print on cotton paper accurately reproduces the depth of the blacks and the gradations of the skin tones.

Trained in Artistic Photography at the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny Serra i Abella, Mano Martínez has worked in the fields of fashion and advertising, with publications in Vogue España, Neo2, and La Vanguardia. His personal work focuses particularly on male portraiture and has been featured in exhibitions held in Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, and Mexico City.
