In “On the Beach at Mi Cayito,” the photographer transforms the atmosphere of a Havana beach into a setting for encounters, where the bodies, attitudes, and spontaneity of the subjects take center stage.Taken during his time working in Cuba, between the late 1990s and 2001, the image is part of the perspective Trillo developed on Havana, marked by an interest in its leisure spaces, its characters, and its unique social codes. His photography thus combines documentary elements with a highly personal aesthetic vision, drawing on his work on Spanish youth cultures and his approach to the various urban scenes he has portrayed internationally. The work was included in the exhibition *North of the Storm: From Robert Rauschenberg to Juan Muñoz* at the MAXXI in Rome
Miguel Trillo is a key figure in contemporary Spanish photography. His work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art, and the MAXXI in Rome, and is part of major public and private collections.
