Russian icon of the XIX century representing the Mother of God of the Burning Bush. Center with the Mother of God and Christ in an eight-pointed star, formed by two quadrilaterals of concave sides, surrounded by eight archangels and representations of the beasts mentioned in the Apocalypse: a lion, an eagle and a calf. Corners with the visions of the prophets Moses, Isiah, Ezekiel and Jacob. Outer border with inscription. The diamonds of this icon are represented in red and green, the red representing fire and the green the bush.
This icon is based on the Old Testament miracle in which Moses witnessed the burning bush. In this miracle, the bush burned, but was not consumed, and the Orthodox Church sees in this a typology of the Mother of God. This idea is based on the fact that the Mother of God gave birth to the Savior, but remained a virgin.
