BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Pendentif brooch-watch pendentif in gold, onyx and diamonds. Czech-Austria, ca. 1890.
14k yellow gold, onyx, polychrome enamel and diamonds.
Turn of the century pendentif watch with neo-baroque inspired top clasp, linked by double chain to a richly ornamented quadrangular case in historicist style. The body of the watch features stylized leaf decoration in relief with black enamel details and enameled vegetal motifs on the dial, evoking the aesthetics of Symbolism and Central European fin-de-siecle eclecticism.
The front cover of the watch is crowned by an 8x8 old-cut diamond, estimated weight 1.00 ct. The watch is framed by small rose-cut diamonds set on the apexes and shafts, accentuating the ornamental character of the piece. The top clasp is topped with a horizontal onyx cabochon flanked by filigree elements and another central diamond.
The dial, of circular design, exhibits a vivid vegetal decoration enameled in green, red and yellow tones, with Roman numerals for the quarter hours and pear-shaped hands. Manual winding mechanism.
Total weight: 20.24 g
Overall measurements: 53 x 23 mm
