Its origins trace back to Italy, where jeweler Guiolio Nardi designed it for his marriage proposal to present his future wife with a precious piece of jewelry inspired by William Shakespeare’s *Othello*. It was so successful that for years in Italy it became the ultimate wedding gift for the bride on this occasion, due to its high cost. As a result, the Venetian Moretto is a true symbol of ostentation and wealth.
