The Fuero Juzgo is the Romance translation of the Liber Iudiciorum or Lex gothica, a Visigothic legal code first promulgated by Recesvinto in 654 and later, in a completed version, by Ervigio (681). The Fuero Juzgo consists of some 500 laws, divided into twelve books, each of which is subdivided into several titles. Among other provisions, the cases in which divorce was authorized, the civic duty to go "to the host", the different types of contracts and the procedure in trials stand out (for more details see the article on the Liber Iudiciorum).
