Book of Hours of Charles V.
Editorial Versol, issue 199/599.
Edition of 1994.
Measurements: 28 x 23 x 7,50 cm.
In 1999, the Versol publishing house published a deluxe facsimile edition of the Libro de Horas de Carlos V, one of the most valuable codices held in the Biblioteca Nacional de España (Cód. Vitr. 24-3), dated around 1503. This work, attributed to an anonymous author, contains 320 miniatures, almost all of them full-page and three double-page, and stands out for its artistic richness and historical value. It is believed to have belonged to Emperor Charles V, as indicated by a handwritten note on the second flyleaf: "Hic liber fuit Magni Imperatoris Caroli V", and was later donated by Philip III to Cardinal Francis de Joyeuse. The facsimile, in 230 x 153 mm format, has a handmade binding in natural leather on board with metal corners, and was accompanied by a volume of studies with commentaries on the text and the miniatures, by Julián Martín Abad, Anna Muntada, Elisa Varela and Francisco M. Gimeno Blay. The edition was limited to 575 numbered and certified copies, with a retail price of 4,850 euros, and is currently completely sold out.
