"Napoléon le Petit" was an influential political pamphlet by Victor Hugo, published in 1852. It criticized the government of Napoleon III and the policies of the Second French Empire for which he left Belgium and was later expelled to Jersey.
Alexandre Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie, known as Alexandre Dumas and in Spanish-speaking countries as Alexandre Dumas (father), was a French novelist and playwright. Dumas' works have been translated into nearly one hundred languages, and he is one of the most widely read French authors. Several of his historical adventure novels were published in serial format, including The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After, The Viscount of Bragelonne, The Black Tulip, and Queen Margot/Marguerite, among others.
"Journey to Venus" (1865) by Aquille Eyraud, was one of the first fictional journeys to that planet.
